Rajnandgaon

The Rajnandgaon state was ruled by Somvanshis, Kalchuris and Marathas. The Rajnandgaon was originally named as Nandgram. The Palaces in the town of Rajnandgaon reveals its own tale of the rulers, their society & culture and the splendid tradition during that time. The contribution of Gajanan Madhav Muktibodh, Padumlal Punnalal Bakshi and Baldeo Prasad Mishra in the field of Hindi literature has a special mention. The District Kawardha was latter bifurcated from the District on 1st July 1998.

The District Rajnandgaon is in the central part of Chhattisgarh. The District headquarter Rajnandgaon is on the Mumbay - Howrah line of southeastern railways. The National Highway 6 (Great Eastern Road) also passes through the town of Rajnandgaon. The nearest airport to the District is at Mana(Raipur), about 80 kms away.

The principal river of the District is Sheonath, a tributary of Mahanadi.The river originates in the border of Chowki block and flows in north eastern direction. The main tributaries of Sheonath are Kharkhara, Sonbarsa, Amner, Surhi, Karra, Murkati, Sankari, Fonk and Hanf.

Dongargarh

Dongargarh is the main tourist as well as piligrimage of the district. The famous temple of MAA BAMBLESHWARI, is on a hilltop of 1600 feet in the town of Dongargarh. This temple is referred as BADI BAMBLESHWARI. Another temple at ground level is situated about 1/2 k.m. from the main temple complex. This temple is reffered as CHOTTI BAMBLESHWARI. Lakhs of people from in and around Chattisgarh flock the shrine during the navratris of Kavar (during Dusshera) and Chaitra (during Ramnavmi). During these navratris melas (fair) are organised in the premises of the temple, which run 24 hours. Many companies and organisations display their product during this mela. The added tourist attraction is the ropeway. It is the only passenger ropeway in the state of Chhattisgarh.

Dongargarh is located at a distance of 40 kms from district headquarter Rajnandgaon and well connected with buses from Rajnandgaon. Dongargarh is also well connected with trains. Its on Bombay - Howrah main line at a distance of 170 kms from Nagpur and 100 kms from Raipur. The nearest airport is at mana (Raipur), around 110 kms from Dongargarh

Kairagarh

Kairagarh is 92 kms from Raipur and 40kms from Rajnandgoan city.It has the only one Music University of India.It is also the only Music university of Asia. There is also beautiful temples like Danteshwari mai and vireshwar mahadev temples to visit.

Gandai

It is 43 kms from Rajnandgoan and 83 kms from Raipur.GANDAI is small village which has very ancient Shiv Mandir .Devpura(Gandai) is one of the Village in Chhuikhadan Tehsil in Rajnandgaon District in Chattisgarh State . Devpura(Gandai) is 46.5 km far from its District Main City Rajnandgaon . Nearest Towns are Khairagarh(10.1 k.m.) ,Rajnandgaon(45.7 k.m.) ,Dongarghar(54.6 k.m.) ,Dongargaon(61.2 k.m.)

Ambagarh

Ambagarh Chowki is a town and a nagar panchayat in Rajnandgaon District in the state of Chhattisgarh, India.It is 16 kms from Rajnandgoan city.Ambadevi Mandir is ambagarh is a beautiful temple to visit.
